Tom Lowery has already swallowed the bitter pill of relegation once in his career and doesn't want to taste it again. The 28-year-old was at Crewe when the Lancashire club dropped into League Two in England in 2022. The midfielder once nicknamed 'Miniesta' came through the Crewe youth academy and felt the pain of relegation keenly.

Tom Lowery knows the sting of relegation all too well—and he's determined not to feel it again.

The 28-year-old midfielder, once nicknamed "Miniesta" for his tenacious style, experienced the bitter drop when his boyhood club Crewe Alexandra fell into League Two back in 2022. Now, he's fighting to avoid a repeat performance with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

"It's a horrible feeling," Lowery admitted. "Those sorts of feelings and what it does for football clubs... it sticks with you, and you don't want to experience that ever again."

After Crewe's relegation, Lowery earned a move to Portsmouth on a three-year deal, staying in League One. But injuries plagued his time at Fratton Park, leading to a loan return to Crewe and eventually his release at the end of the 2024–25 season. He joined Kilmarnock last July, only to find himself in another relegation scrap—this time sitting 11th in the table, desperately trying to avoid the play-off spot.

This Saturday, Neil McCann's side host Dundee United, hoping to snap a three-game winless run. Lowery remains optimistic despite the pressure.

"We've been playing well recently, maybe not got the results that we deserve, but everyone's feeling confident going into the last four games," he said. "The manager's message is to carry on with the performances we've been producing but take our chances and not concede avoidable goals."

Those avoidable goals have been a recurring issue. Last weekend at Aberdeen, Killie conceded in their first attack—the third consecutive away game where they've let in an early opener. It's a pattern Lowery and his teammates are desperate to fix.

"We're all feeling that, and we're all really eager to put that right on Saturday," he added. "That's the only thing we can do now—try and put it right in the next game."

For a player who's already tasted the worst of football's highs and lows, this fight is personal. On the pitch, every minute counts—and off it, fans can gear up for the battle with the right kit to show their support.
