Big news is brewing in Knoxville as a Tennessee football legacy prepares to make his college decision. Four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon II has officially set his commitment date for May 11, and Vols fans will be watching closely.

Simon II, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound powerhouse from Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, is weighing offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss. The in-state standout is ranked as the No. 7 linebacker nationally in the 2027 class by 247Sports and holds the No. 6 spot among all players in Tennessee—making him a major priority for the Volunteers.

There's a deep family connection here, too. Simon II is a Tennessee legacy: his father, Kevin Simon, suited up for the Vols from 2001 to 2005. That orange bloodline, combined with eight unofficial visits to Knoxville, suggests the Vols are in a strong position. Tennessee extended a scholarship offer back on May 12 of last year.

The competition is fierce. Simon II boasts offers from a long list of programs including Purdue (the first to offer), Kentucky, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Auburn, SMU, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Florida State, and many more. His recruitment has become a national story, but Tennessee's early and consistent attention could pay off.

Interestingly, Simon II already has a familiar face on the Vols' 2027 commitment list: wide receiver KeSean Bowman, his teammate at Brentwood Academy. That chemistry could be a game-changer on Rocky Top. Tennessee's 2027 class currently features seven commitments: linebackers JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison.

Mark your calendars for May 11. This legacy linebacker's decision could shape Tennessee's defensive future for years to come.
