The 2026 NFL Draft ended over the weekend, with the Miami Dolphins adding 13 rookies over the three-day selection process. The team is also working the phones to sign undrafted free agents, with that list growing as more players agree to head to South Florida. But, as soon as mock draft season ends for one year, it begins for the next. With the 2026 Draft complete, it is already time to start looking toward 2027.

SB Nation’s “way-too-early” 2027 NFL Mock Draft by James Dator was published Monday morning, and it gives us an idea of who could be on the Dolphins’ radar next spring. Like many of the 2027 projections being published lately, Dator has the Dolphins, who started a franchise-wide reset this offseason, selecting very early next year – in this instance, first overall. While that would mean a miserable 2026 season for the team, it could make for an exciting Draft.

While Dator did not give a pick-by-pick explanation, he did provide a little input into the two quarterbacks expected to be at the top of the draft, Moore and Texas passer Arch Manning:

Everything hinges on the upcoming college football season to determine which quarterback will be taken No. 1 overall. We know it’s likely between Dante Moore and Arch Manning, but right now it’s a total tossup between the two…One of the things that really stands out about the 2027 class is both its incredible strength at QB and WR, but also an astonishing lack of depth on the offensive line. There isn’t a single interior offensive lineman worth of a first round pick, and that could change a lot — but right now this is not looking like a good draft to need line help.

While Dator has Miami using the first pick on Moore, FanDuel Sportsbook clearly has Manning as the favorite for the top pick. Manning is +160 in the latest odds to be the first name called next spring, while Moore is tied for second with Ohio State wide receiver Jaremiah Smith and Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr at +600.

I know many fans are already on the Manning wagon to try to land the son of Cooper, nephew of Peyton and Eli. Manning is entering his fourth year at Texas. He threw for 3,163 yards on 61.4 percent completions with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions last year.

In comparison, Moore is preparing for his third year at Oregon, having spent his first collegiate year at UCLA. Last season he threw for 3,565 yards on a 71.8 completion rate with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He would appear to have the early advantage in the battle for the top pick, but the 2026 NCAA season will decide who becomes the 2027 NFL first overall pick.

All of this also assumes Malik Willis, the free agent quarterback Miami signed this offseason to replace Tua Tagovailoa, does not establish himself as the franchise quarterback the Dolphins clearly need. Could Willis play Miami into not considering a quarterback next spring?

Who do you think becomes the top pick for Miami in 2027?
