Tennessee football is making moves early for its 2027 recruiting class, and a top prospect from the Bayou State has taken notice.

Four-star running back Trey Martin, a standout from Franklin Parish High School in Winnsboro, Louisiana, has officially named the Volunteers among his top five schools. The list also includes SEC powerhouses Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, and Florida, along with Big Ten contender Ohio State, as reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3.

At 5-foot-10 and 202 pounds, Martin is a dynamic playmaker who brings a blend of speed and power to the backfield. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 13 running back nationally in the 2027 class and the No. 10 overall prospect in the talent-rich state of Louisiana—a testament to his elite potential.

Tennessee extended a scholarship offer to Martin on November 5, 2025, and the Vols are already making him a priority. He's scheduled to take an official visit to Knoxville on May 21, which could be a pivotal moment in his recruitment.

Martin's recruitment has been heating up quickly. Louisiana Tech was the first to offer him on February 20, 2025, and since then, a who's who of college football programs have joined the chase. His offer list now includes Lamar, Florida State, Arkansas State, Texas State, Tulane, Michigan State, Tulsa, Houston, Memphis, South Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

As for Tennessee's 2027 class, the Vols are building a solid foundation with seven commitments already on board: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison.

For Vols fans eager to follow the next generation of talent, Martin is a name to watch closely as signing day approaches.
