The future of Michigan Football's defense looks bright, and a key piece might be on the horizon. The Wolverines have made a powerful impression on 2027 three-star linebacker Ethan Hauser, who now has the Maize and Blue "sitting at the top" of his list following a standout visit to Ann Arbor.

Hauser, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound standout from football powerhouse Buford High School in Georgia, was so impressed with his recent trip that he immediately locked in a return for an official visit during the pivotal "Victor’s Weekend" in June. The reason? He felt like an absolute priority from the moment he stepped on campus.

"My latest visit to Michigan went very well," Hauser shared. "I was made a priority by the entire staff. I was definitely impressed with the experience."

A significant part of that connection stems from his relationship with linebackers coach Alex Whittingham, who extended an offer in February. The bond has grown quickly and personally. "I have a very strong relationship with coach Whittingham," Hauser noted. "He has also made it a point to build a strong relationship with my family."

That family-focused approach extends to the top, with head coach Kyle Whittingham also playing a major role. Hauser described him as a "down-to-earth and well-rounded man" who makes him feel like a key target for the program's future.

Beyond the personal connections, Hauser sees a perfect schematic fit. After watching practice, he was drawn to the versatility and physicality of Michigan's linebackers. "I definitely can see myself fitting into Michigan’s scheme, as well as play style," he said, highlighting the unit's communication and intensity.

While Michigan currently holds a commanding position, the recruitment process continues. Hauser has official visits scheduled with Vanderbilt (May 29) and Missouri (June 5) before his crucial return to Ann Arbor on June 19. For now, the Wolverines have set a high bar, making a compelling case that the Big House could be home for this talented young defender.
