The Tennessee Volunteers are making moves early in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and they've just landed on the shortlist for one of the nation's most promising wide receivers.
Four-star IMG Academy standout Osani Gayles has named Tennessee among his top five schools, joining Alabama, Washington, Notre Dame, and Stanford. The announcement came via Hayes Fawcett of On3, giving Vols fans plenty of reason for optimism.
Gayles, who measures in at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, is no ordinary prospect. Hailing from the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, he's already making waves nationally. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 7 wide receiver in the entire 2027 class and the No. 5 player in the talent-rich state of Florida.
The Volunteers extended a scholarship offer to Gayles on August 1, 2024, and he's already gotten a taste of game day in Knoxville. He made an unofficial visit to watch Tennessee take on New Mexico State on November 15, 2025, and has an official visit scheduled for June 12.
Gayles has been on the radar for a while now—Nevada was the first school to offer him back on February 19, 2024. Since then, his recruitment has exploded, with offers pouring in from virtually every Power Four program in the country, including California, Oregon, Penn State, USC, Miami, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and many more.
Tennessee's 2027 recruiting class is already taking shape with seven commitments: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison.
With Gayles' official visit on the horizon, the Vols have a golden opportunity to make a lasting impression on one of the top playmakers in the class.
