The race for one of the nation's top young running backs is heating up, and a decision is just days away. Four-star prospect Andrew Beard, a standout in the 2027 class, has announced he will reveal his college commitment this Friday, with Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, and Clemson all vying for his signature.
Hailing from Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Georgia, the 5-foot-9, 197-pound back has been turning heads across the Southeast. According to Chad Simmons of On3, Beard's blend of power and agility has earned him a No. 8 national ranking among running backs and the No. 14 overall spot in talent-rich Georgia, per 247Sports.
Tennessee has been particularly aggressive in its pursuit. The Vols extended a scholarship offer on May 8, 2024, and Beard has already made five unofficial visits to Knoxville. He's scheduled to take an official visit on June 19, signaling strong mutual interest. Georgia, his home-state powerhouse, was the first to offer him back on June 8, 2023, and has remained a formidable contender.
Beard's recruitment has been a whirlwind, with offers pouring in from nearly every major program in the country. Arkansas, Miami, Oklahoma, Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, and LSU are just a few of the 20-plus Power Four schools that have entered the mix. With such a deep list, his Friday decision will be a major recruiting win for whichever program lands him.
For Tennessee, adding Beard would be a statement piece to an already promising 2027 class. The Vols currently hold seven commitments, including quarterback Derrick Baker, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison. A running back of Beard's caliber would give the class a dynamic playmaker in the backfield.
As the countdown to Friday begins, all eyes are on this Georgia native. Whether he stays close to home, heads to Rocky Top, or surprises the college football world, one thing is certain: Andrew Beard is a name you'll want to remember.
