Four-star safety Jarrell Chandler, a towering 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect from Halls High School in Knoxville, has officially announced that he will reveal his college commitment on May 18. According to Chad Simmons of On3, Chandler's final four schools are Tennessee, Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Miami—making this a high-stakes battle for in-state bragging rights and national recruiting prestige.
Chandler is currently ranked as the No. 29 safety in the 2027 class and the No. 12 overall player in the state of Tennessee by Rivals. His size and athleticism make him a prototype modern safety capable of covering ground in the secondary or stepping up in run support—exactly the kind of versatile playmaker that Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel and defensive coordinator Tim Banks love to deploy.
The Vols have been putting in serious work to secure Chandler's commitment. Tennessee extended a scholarship offer on April 2, 2025, and Chandler has already made five visits to Knoxville.
