Recruiting never sleeps in college football, and the Tennessee Volunteers are already making major moves for the class of 2027. The Vols have landed in the top four for one of the nation's most coveted prospects, five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
Hailing from Baylor School in Chattanooga, Georges is a premier in-state talent. Standing at 6-foot and 205 pounds, he is currently ranked as the No. 2 running back in the nation for his class and the No. 1 overall player in the state of Tennessee by 247Sports. His finalist list is a who's who of college football powerhouses, with Tennessee competing against Ohio State, Georgia, and Ole Miss for his commitment.
The Vols have positioned themselves well in this high-stakes recruitment. Tennessee extended a scholarship offer to Georges last July, and he is already very familiar with the program, having visited Knoxville six times. He has an official visit scheduled for June 5, which will be a crucial opportunity for the coaching staff to solidify their standing.
Georges' recruitment has been national from the start, with Oregon being the first to offer in February 2024. His offer sheet reads like a college football playoff bracket, including heavyweights like Alabama, Texas, Michigan, and Notre Dame, highlighting his elite status.
Landing a player of Georges' caliber would be a massive win for head coach Josh Heupel and his staff as they build for the future. He would be a cornerstone addition to a 2027 recruiting class that already holds six commitments, including players like linebacker JP Peace and quarterback Derrick Baker. Securing the top player in Tennessee is always a priority, and the Vols are in a strong position to do just that with David Gabriel Georges.
