2027 5-star CB Joshua Dobson recently discussed what makes Texas A&M stand out as his current recruiting leader.

Texas A&M is making serious waves in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and all eyes are on five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson. The talented defensive back from North Carolina recently opened up about why the Aggies have surged to the top of his list—and it's a story that's got fans buzzing.

Under head coach Mike Elko, Texas A&M has kept the recruiting momentum rolling since taking over from Jimbo Fisher. With back-to-back top-10 classes and the current No. 1-ranked 2027 cycle—bolstered by four five-star commits, including elite offensive lineman Kennedy Brown—the Aggies are building something special. Now, they're in the driver's seat for Dobson, one of the most coveted cornerbacks in the country.

Just a few months ago, Dobson seemed destined for LSU. But after a recent visit to College Station, the script flipped. On3 insider Steve Wiltfong even predicted Dobson would commit to Texas A&M, and the buzz has only grown louder. What changed? It's all about the connection.

"How they are recruiting me definitely matters," Dobson told insider Chad Simmons. "Coming in with a great group of guys like that would make me better. I like the defensive mind of the head coach (Mike Elko), too. You don't find that a lot. The development, the culture, everything there is top-notch. They have the coaches, a great plan, and it is a 40-year plan there."

Dobson is set to take an official visit to Texas A&M on June 5, but he's keeping his options open. LSU—now led by Lane Kiffin—remains a major threat, along with South Carolina, Auburn, and Michigan, all programs with a strong track record of developing NFL-caliber cornerbacks. He's also confirmed official visits to LSU, South Carolina, and Auburn.

Right now, Rivals gives Texas A&M a 60% chance of landing Dobson's commitment, and his words back that up. The way the Aggies have rolled out the red carpet and maintained high-level communication has clearly made an impression. For a player who values both development and culture, College Station is checking all the boxes.

Early predictions aren't set in stone, but Dobson's tone speaks volumes. As the summer heats up, this is one recruitment that could define the 2027 cycle—and Texas A&M is right in the middle of it.
