Texas A&M basketball’s recruiting momentum under head coach Bucky McMillan continued Thursday, as the Aggies secured a commitment from one of the top guards in the country.
Four‑star point guard Chase Richardson, a 6‑foot‑1 standout from Friendswood (TX), announced his pledge to Texas A&M over offers from Purdue, Nebraska, and Virginia. Richardson is ranked the No. 4 player in Texas and a Top‑75 prospect nationally, giving McMillan his first commitment of the 2027 cycle.
Richardson fits the mold of what McMillan wants in his backcourt. A tough, high‑motor guard who thrives in transition and sees the floor at an elite level. His ability to push tempo and initiate fast‑paced offense makes him a natural fit for the “Bucky Ball” system that has quickly reshaped the Aggies’ identity.
When asked what he plans to bring to Aggieland, Richardson didn’t hesitate.
"Texas A&M is getting a high-energy player that will do whatever it takes to win. can score the ball while also getting my teammates involved. I like to push the ball and play very fast."
Richardson becomes the foundational piece of McMillan’s 2027 class, and with A&M’s on‑court success and rising national profile, more additions could follow soon.
