As the WNBA's 30th season begins, we're ranking the top 30 players in the league right now

The WNBA has undergone a massive transformation over the past few months. A groundbreaking new collective bargaining agreement introduced the league's first million-dollar salaries, two expansion teams—the Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo—have officially joined the action, and free agency was the busiest and most expensive in league history.

Now, all eyes turn to the court as the WNBA celebrates its 30th anniversary season. Opening night tips off Friday, kicking off a five-month sprint to crown a champion. Can the Las Vegas Aces go back-to-back and claim their fourth title in five years, or will a challenger like the New York Liberty, Indiana Fever, or Atlanta Dream dethrone the reigning dynasty?

That question will be answered by the players themselves. To set the stage, we've expanded our annual player rankings from 25 to 30 in honor of this milestone season. Leading the pack for the third straight year is four-time MVP A'ja Wilson, who has firmly cemented her status as the best player in the world after another historic campaign.

But the battle for the spots behind Wilson is wide open. Here's a quick preview: the New York Liberty, Atlanta Dream, and Los Angeles Sparks each boast four players on the list, while the Aces, Indiana Fever, Minnesota Lynx, and Dallas Wings all have three. Notably, the Connecticut Sun, Portland Fire, Toronto Tempo, and Seattle Storm have no representatives.

While no rookies cracked the top 30, the list features 10 former No. 1 overall picks and four former MVPs. Among the intriguing storylines is the return of Brionna Jones, a four-time All-Star and one of the league's most consistent and efficient bigs. Jones would rank higher if not for a torn meniscus suffered while playing overseas in Prague in February. The Atlanta Dream haven't provided a timeline for her return, but they've confirmed she will play this season. Once she's back, all eyes will be on how she meshes with rising star Angel Reese.

Without further ado, here are CBS Sports' top 30 players for the 2026 WNBA season.
