NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — The 2026 PGA Championship is heating up as Round 2 gets underway Friday at Aronimink Golf Club, and all eyes are on Scottie Scheffler. The defending champion shot a solid 3-under 67 in the first round, tying for the lead in a competitive seven-player pack. Now, he's aiming to break away early.
Scheffler tees off at 8:40 a.m. ET from the 10th hole, grouped with Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick. It's a morning wave packed with talent, including Michael Block, who opened with an even-par 70 and is looking to make another cut. Patrick Reed, Corey Conners, and Shane Lowry—all at 2-under—are also in the mix, hoping to stay within striking distance.
The afternoon session promises more drama. Co-leader Min Woo Lee hits the course at 1:21 p.m. alongside Patrick Cantlay and Sahith Theegala, who's just one shot back at 2-under. Xander Schauffele, fresh off a 2-under 68, joins Brooks Koepka (1-under, T15) and Tyrrell Hatton for what should be a thrilling group.
Not everyone had a dream start. Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau, both pre-tournament favorites, find themselves outside the top 100 after Round 1. They'll be fighting to climb back into contention during the afternoon wave. With the leaderboard tight and plenty of star power, Friday's second round is shaping up to be a must-watch at Aronimink.
