The first round of the 2025 NFL draft is in the books, and the Washington Commanders selected Ohio State LB Sonny Styles with the 7th overall pick. There are still a plenty of good players that will be available tonight in Rounds 2 & 3. Washington has a lot of areas they would probably like to address early, but the right players have to be there.
Washington started the draft with six picks, and they only have one on Day 2. Washington’s 2nd-round pick was traded to the Houston Texans as part of the deal to acquire LT Laremy Tunsil. The Commanders will be on the clock tonight with the 71st overall pick.
2025 was a banner year for Skyler Bell. He had 101 catches for 1,278 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns this season, and he’s an athletic weapon with the ability to create separation at all three levels of the defensive secondary.
The Commanders desperately need to add a No. 2 receiver across from Terry McLaurin. Sarratt isn’t a top-tier athlete but has the size (6-2, 210 pounds) he has excellent hands, is a good route runner and showed well as a run blocker. He racked up 65 catches for 830 yards and 15 touchdowns during his final season at Indiana and should become a quality possession receiver.
Washington’s secondary has been a disaster for far too long. The front office must take care of this problem.
Jalon Kilgore is tall and thickly built. He picked off five passes this past season.
