PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL PICKS BEFORE THEY ARE ANNOUNCED
The first two rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft are in the books. On day one the New York Jets selected edge defender David Bailey at #2, then picked up a couple of pass catchers when they selected tight end Kenyon Sadiq at #16 and traded #33 and #179 to the San Francisco 49ers for #30, selecting wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.
Last night on day two the Jets traded back from #44 with the Detroit Lions to #50 and picked up an extra fourth round pick in the process. At #50 the Jets selected cornerback D’Angelo Ponds, a very popular pick with the fans.
The final day of the draft, entailing rounds four through seven, takes place today, starting at 12 noon EDT.
The New York Jets have three fourth round picks and two seventh round picks today. The Jets have needs at safety, linebacker, quarterback, defensive line, interior offensive line, and cornerback. The later rounds often aren’t so much about need as about sorting through the diminishing talent to find the best players available, regardless of position. We will see shortly what direction the Jets go in today.
