In a major boost for North Carolina's 2026 recruiting class, four-star small forward Kevin Thomas has officially committed to the Tar Heels. The 6'6", 195-pound prospect from Weston Sagemont Prep in Florida brings a versatile skill set and some familiar connections to Chapel Hill.

Ranked as the No. 79 overall player, No. 32 small forward, and the 13th-best prospect from Florida by 247Sports, Thomas originally pledged to LSU under head coach Matt McMahon. However, after the Tigers made a coaching change—bringing in Will Wade to replace McMahon—Thomas reopened his recruitment. A visit to North Carolina this week sealed the deal, as the talented wing quickly fell in love with the Tar Heels' program and campus atmosphere.

Thomas joins fellow 2026 commits Maximo Adams and Malloy Smith, giving head coach Michael Malone a solid three-man class to build around. His addition also brings the roster back to 13 scholarship players following the departure of Maxim Logue, providing much-needed depth on the wing after the transfers of Luka Bogavac and Jonathan Powell.
