We’ll give this spot to Brandon Sproat, who turned in his best performance as a Brewer by far after a rough start to the season. In a 6 2/3 inning start on Wednesday, he allowed one run on four hits and a walk, striking out six while throwing just 75 pitches. After exiting with the game tied at 1-1, the Brewers would take the lead in the bottom of the inning for a 2-1 win.

Honorable mention to Brandon Woodruff, who became the first Brewer pitcher to make it through seven innings this season. He allowed one run on three hits and a walk, striking out four as he picked up the win over the Marlins on Saturday.
Brice Turang continued his great start, appearing in all six games this week and extending his on-base streak to 19 games, which, as it so happens, is every game he’s played in this season. He went 7-for-23 with a homer, a double, five RBIs, five runs, and a steal, as he’s now hitting .300/.437/.571 for the season.

Honorable mention to William Contreras, who actually out-hit Turang (eight hits in 24 at-bats), including a double, two RBIs, and a run scored as he slashed .348/.400/.435.
Christian Yelich, who exited last Sunday’s game against the Nationals with an injury, was diagnosed with a groin strain that will keep him out until at least mid-May. After placing him on the 10-day IL and moving Rob Zastryzny from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL, outfielder Greg Jones was selected from Triple-A Nashville, appearing in three games this week.
In a bit of an under-the-radar move, the Brewers acquired RHP Junior Fernández in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Fernández, 29, has made 50 MLB appearances (all between 2019 and 2022) with the Pirates and Cardinals. He hasn’t made any appearances in the majors or minors this season, and the Brewers have not yet assigned him to a level.
On Friday, the Brewers optioned RHP Easton McGee in favor of RHP Coleman Crow, who made his MLB debut against the Marlins. He went 5 1/3 innings with two runs allowed on four hits and a walk, striking out four in a no-decision as the Brewers would go on to win in extras. Crow was immediately optioned back to Nashville, as RHP Carlos Rodriguez was recalled to replace him on the active roster.
