Phil Harres delivered a masterclass performance, securing Holstein Kiel's safety in the 2. Bundesliga with his first-ever brace in the league. The towering striker showcased clinical finishing, converting two well-crafted goals that highlighted Tim Walter's tactical setup.

Kiel's victory extended their impressive winning streak to four matches, with Harres emerging as the team's talisman. Over this stretch, he has netted four goals and provided a crucial assist for Jonas Therkelsen's winner against Hertha last week. The duo's chemistry was on full display in the first half-hour, as they seamlessly swapped roles to keep Braunschweig's defense guessing.

The match began with both sides trading dangerous opportunities. Johan Gomez's powerful strike rattled the woodwork, serving as an early warning sign. But it was Kiel who broke the deadlock first. Therkelsen initiated a slick one-two with Jonas Meffert before squaring the ball to Harres, who made no mistake from close range.

After the restart, chances continued to flow at both ends. Braunschweig pushed for an equalizer, but Kiel's defense held firm. Harres then sealed the victory in the 87th minute with his ninth goal of the season—a composed finish that sent the home fans into raptures.

With several relegation-threatened teams still facing off against each other, Kiel's four-game winning run has effectively secured their status for another season. For Braunschweig, the outlook is bleaker: they could slip into the bottom three if results elsewhere go against them tomorrow. For now, though, the spotlight belongs to Harres and his resurgent Kiel side.
