Three first-half goals secured massive three points for Arminia Bielefeld in the battle to avoid the drop. The newly-promoted side started the day in 17th place after Friday’s results, but they only stayed there for a few hours.
Bottom-placed Preußen Münster took the lead in the second minute through Yassine Bouchama before Mitch Kniat’s men responded superbly with three goals in the next 30 minutes.
In a game defined by set-pieces and crosses, Tim Handwerker, who scored last week's late equalizer against Nürnberg, provided the assists for Thaddäus-Monju Momuluh and Roberts Uldrikis in the space of five minutes.
The captain Mael Corboz extended the visitors' lead before the half-time break. Maximilian Großer’s own-goal resulted in a nervy ending for Bielefeld, but they saw out the result to lift themselves back to 13th place.
Münster are in danger of being left further behind if results elsewhere go against them. Things will not get any easier for Alois Schwartz’s men as their last three games are all against promotion hopefuls.
